About Olive & Fable
What is Olive & Fable Pet Photography?
Olive & Fable Pet Photography is a fine art pet photography studio located in Downtown Kirkland, Washington. We specialize in creating custom portraits and heirloom artwork that celebrate the bond between pets and the people who love them. Our mission is to preserve the story, spirit, and love of the companions who make our lives better.
What is a full-service pet photographer?
A full-service pet photographer guides clients through every step of the portrait experience, from planning and photographing the session to selecting artwork and designing products for the home. At Olive & Fable, we help families transform their favorite images into finished artwork rather than leaving them forgotten on a hard drive.
Where is Olive & Fable Pet Photography located?
Our studio is located in Downtown Kirkland, Washington, and serves pet-loving families throughout the Seattle and Eastside area.
What areas do you serve?
We regularly work with clients from Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond, Woodinville, Sammamish, Issaquah, Mercer Island, Seattle, and surrounding communities throughout Western Washington.
Why choose Olive & Fable Pet Photography?

Studio Pet Photography
Do you offer outdoor pet photography?
No. Olive & Fable specializes exclusively in studio pet photography. Our controlled studio environment allows us to create timeless portraits without weather concerns, distractions, crowded parks, or inconsistent lighting.
What are the benefits of studio pet photography?
Studio pet photography provides consistent lighting, fewer distractions, year-round comfort, timeless backgrounds, and greater creative control. The result is artwork that focuses entirely on your pet rather than the location.
Why choose a studio pet photographer instead of an outdoor photographer?
Studio photography removes many of the challenges that can make outdoor sessions stressful for pets. Without weather, crowded environments, or constant distractions, pets often settle more quickly, allowing us to capture cleaner, more expressive portraits.
What can I expect during a studio pet photography session?
Sessions are designed around your pet's personality and comfort level. We take time to build trust, use positive reinforcement, and create a relaxed environment where your pet can succeed. Most clients are surprised by how enjoyable and stress-free the experience feels.
Is studio pet photography a good option for senior pets?
Yes. Senior pets often thrive in a studio environment because they don't have to navigate uneven terrain, long walks, or outdoor weather conditions. Sessions can be adjusted to their mobility and energy level.
Is studio pet photography a good option for reactive dogs?
Yes. Many reactive dogs do better in a controlled environment with fewer triggers. We work closely with families to understand their dog's needs and create a safe, comfortable experience.
Is studio pet photography a good option for shy pets?
Absolutely. The quiet, controlled nature of the studio allows shy pets to settle in at their own pace while minimizing overstimulation.
Dogs & Cats
Do you photograph dogs and cats?
Yes. We photograph both dogs and cats and tailor every session to the individual pet's personality and needs.
Can puppies be professionally photographed?
Absolutely. Puppies change incredibly quickly, making professional portraits a wonderful way to preserve this special stage of life.
Do you photograph senior dogs?
Yes. Senior dogs are among our favorite subjects to photograph. Many families choose to create portraits during this stage because they recognize how meaningful these memories become over time.
Can cats be photographed in a studio?
Yes. Many cats photograph beautifully in a studio environment. We allow cats to explore, settle in, and move at their own pace to create a positive experience.
How do cat photography sessions work?
Cat sessions are customized around the cat's comfort level. Some cats are curious and outgoing, while others need more time to adjust. We follow their lead to create portraits that reflect their personality.
My dog doesn't know commands. Can they still be photographed?
Yes. Most of the pets we photograph are family companions, not professionally trained dogs. Great pet photography relies on patience, timing, and experience—not perfect obedience.
My dog won't sit still. Can you still get great photos?
Absolutely. We specialize in working with pets of all energy levels and use techniques that allow us to capture beautiful portraits even when pets are active or easily distracted.
Can reactive dogs be professionally photographed?
Yes. Many reactive dogs can be photographed successfully with proper planning and accommodations. Our studio environment often helps reduce common triggers found in public spaces.
Can multiple pets be included in one session?
Yes. We love photographing multiple pets and helping families capture the relationships between their companions.
Family & Pets
Can family members be included in the session?
Absolutely. While pets are always the heart of what we do, many families choose to be included in some of their portraits.
What is the difference between a family photographer and a pet photographer?
A pet photographer is trained to work specifically with animals and understands animal behavior, body language, timing, and safety. While many family photographers allow pets to participate, professional pet photographers build the entire experience around the pet.
Can I have portraits of just my pet and portraits with my family?
Yes. Most clients choose a combination of portraits featuring their pet alone as well as images that celebrate the bond they share together.
What should I wear for a pet photography session?
We provide personalized wardrobe guidance before your session. We typically recommend timeless, coordinated clothing that complements your pet without competing for attention.
Pet Events & Celebrations
Do you photograph dog birthday parties?
Yes. We offer professional photography coverage for dog birthday parties, capturing everything from candid moments and guest interactions to portraits of the birthday pup and their family.
What is included in dog birthday party photography?
Coverage can include event details, decorations, portraits, cake moments, guest interactions, candid images, and group photos. Coverage is customized based on the event and your goals.

Do you offer albums?
Yes. We offer heirloom-quality albums designed to tell your pet's story through a curated collection of images.
Do you offer digital images?
Yes. Digital image collections are available, though many clients choose to pair them with artwork to ensure their portraits are enjoyed every day.
How do I know what artwork size is right for my home?
During your design appointment, we help you choose sizes and layouts that fit your space and goals.
Why should I print my pet portraits instead of only keeping digital files?
Printed artwork becomes part of your daily life and home. While digital files are important, printed portraits ensure your pet's story is seen, celebrated, and preserved for years to come.

Fine Art & Legacy Portraiture
What is fine art pet photography?
Fine art pet photography combines technical expertise and artistic vision to create portraits designed to become lasting works of art rather than simple snapshots.
Why invest in professional pet photography?
Our pets are family. Professional portraits preserve their story, personality, and the bond you share, creating artwork that can be enjoyed for generations.
Is it too early to photograph my puppy?
No. Every stage of your pet's life is worth remembering, and puppy portraits often become treasured keepsakes as they grow.
Is it too late to photograph my senior dog?
Not at all. Many families tell us their senior pet portraits become some of their most meaningful possessions.
Why do so many families choose to photograph their pets?
Because the time we have with them never feels long enough. Professional portraits help preserve memories that become increasingly valuable over time.
What makes a pet portrait an heirloom?
An heirloom portrait is designed to last and be passed down through generations, preserving not only what a pet looked like but also the story of their place within the family.
“It was an absolute joy to work with Yunet and Elaine in getting some portrait photos of Rocky to commemorate his puppy stage. They clearly know how to make dogs feel comfortable and cooperative, and as a result were able to take some really amazing solo and dad/son shots. Yunet had excellent communication with me throughout, and the entire project lifecycle felt very well-managed and professional. Thank you!
